Our Mission
Demand more for dogs
Assemblywoman Glick’s bill A1113 will change the law to provide better legal protections for companion animals that are injured or killed.
Reach out to your NYS Assembly person and NYS Assembly Judiciary Chairman Jeffrey Dinowitz to demand action on A1113. Get involved here.
A113 will accomplish the following:
Establish special protections for companion animals under the law
Makes those responsible for injury or death to a companion legally liable for injuries sustained
Makes those responsible for harm to a companion animal liable for damages, veterinary expenses, the loss of expected society/companionship/comfort/protection/services, court costs and attorney’s fees, and other reasonable damages.
Allows owners of a companion animal to file an order of protection against those that harmed their companion animal
Above and beyond A1113, there are additional measures we want to pursue:
Make a dog on dog attack that results in the death of a dog a crime and make the owners of the attacking dog responsible in the eyes of the law.
We need better protections for pets and dogs in New York City and New York State. If a dog attacks a human, it is a criminal case and the victim has a series of measures they can take with Animal Control, ASPCA, and local police to protect themselves, remove the dog, and protect the community. Give Animal Control the ability to remove the violent dog and put it in the care of an animal organization that can provide the care it needs.
